Website Makeovers – Don’t Wait Too Long for Yours!

March 4, 2014 by T.A. Vieira

There’s been a lot of cool new coding coming out these days, and as a web developer it’s really hard for me to resist the urge to redo my websites every couple months or so.

This week ImagePerceptions.com was the target of my efforts. I’ve been working on the new layout, incorporating cool new features, and putting everything together to hopefully give you a better idea of how I can help you with your web presence.

Why Website Makeovers Are Good

This probably seems kind of obvious. It’s always good to shake things up a bit from time to time so when visitors come back they see something new (and exciting?). You don’t want to make drastic changes frequently so that your customers become confused and can’t find what they came back to look for, but a fresh coat of paint now and then is a welcome surprise.

Why Website Makeovers are Necessary

With technology moving forward at a faster pace it’s very important that your business’ site keeps up with current coding and design trends. The cool thing about WordPress, and especially themes that run on Genesis Framework (affiliate link), is that automatic updates can be made fairly easily. Most of the time it just takes one click of a button to update WordPress, your themes and your plugins. Make sure to click on those automatic updates whenever you see them. It’s always best to have all your software up to date.

That will take care of the technical end of things on the site, for the most part, but keeping up with current design trends is also very important.

You’ve probably seen some websites that just look so ‘2010!’ Okay, if you’re not a designer that probably sounds a little picky, but having a fresh, contemporary design on your site can really help your customers know that you’re keeping up with the times and are staying relevant.  I’m not suggesting that you change your sites as often as I do. Probably wouldn’t be practical. But maybe once a year. And it doesn’t have to be a complete overhaul. Maybe just some noticeable tweaks here and there.

If you’re reading this from your email inbox please accept my invitation to stop by and take a look at the… well, the new look!
