Don’t Let Your Website Run Itself

July 5, 2022 by T.A. Vieira

Guest article by Poppy Williams of TechBizGuide.com

Many small business owners tend to think of websites as a one-and-done process. This is far from the truth and a very unhealthy way of thinking about your online presence. Instead, you must look at your website as something that requires routine upkeep, maintenance, and monitoring. Failure to pay attention to what’s happening in the digital realm can impact your brick-and-mortar.

Today, we discuss why it’s important to monitor your website and offer a few tips on how to do just that.

Output Efficiency

The goal of any business’s website is to attract the attention of new customers. Once you have them on your site, you have to create a user-friendly experience that shows them what you’re all about. One way you can do this is by implementing BPM (business process management) on your site. But what is business process defined? Simply put, a business process is any pathway you or your customers take to get a result. One example here would be offering online quotes. Business process management elements of this action might include instant credit checks, automatic distribution of information throughout your internal systems, and an auto-generated email with credit approval.

Your Message

Even if you have a beautiful and well-designed website that showcases your best attributes, that doesn’t mean it will get traffic. According to Ted Vieira, it pays to know the types of content you’re posting. Evaluate your current content, including blog posts, photos, and videos, to see if it’s all about your customers. If not, it’s time to change your marketing strategy. Use your website (and social media) to showcase your customers with your product, answer common questions, or offer actionable tips.

Search Engine Ranking

Your search engine ranking is the place that your website falls in the search results when someone enters a query relevant to your business. As explained by tech blog Bobology, these results are highly influential, and people worldwide perform more than 3.5 billion searches every day. If you don’t know where you fall for common keywords relevant to your business, it’s time you paid closer attention to your website. Not only do you need to know how much time users spend on your site, you should have access to information that shows you how many visitors you converted to actual customers. Having this information helps you make a scalable plan on how to best utilize your online presence to benefit your business.

Site Performance

Have you ever clicked off of a website because it took too long for the page to load? If so, you’ve experienced for yourself the top reason people leave a website and search for another. You only have about two seconds for your site to fully and flawlessly display before almost half of your customers lose interest. Make sure that you and your IT team are constantly monitoring your load speeds. You may need to make adjustments, such as reducing pop-up ads or turning off auto-play videos. It might even be something as simple as reducing the size of the images posted so that they load faster and are more optimized for screen.

There are many tools and services available to you today that help you have an optimized website. There is no reason that you, your customers, and your employees must endure slow load speeds, manual input, or falling behind on search engine rankings. If you think your website needs help, it probably does, and Ted Vieira can help!
