Do You Run Multiple WordPress Websites?

April 5, 2019 by T.A. Vieira
The WordPress App for iOS and Android

Do you have multiple WordPress websites that you have to maintain in control and generate content for? Man, I do.

I’ve got a website for my…

  • photography business, TAVPhotography.com
  • a website for my jazz, TedVieira.com
  • a website for my photography podcast, PhotographyMattersPodcast.com
  • online magazine that covers topics like art and artists and the creative process, Minor11.com
  • and of course this website, TedVieiraConsulting.com.

Now I will admit that there are a couple of those sites but I don’t often update with content, but there are at least three of them that I’m trying to make sure I post fresh content to on a regular basis.

Mobile Content Creation

If you keep up with my recent posts you’ll know that just recently within the last few weeks I’ve started doing most of my posting from my iPhone. Using a browser app (Chrome) I’ll log into the admin area of my WordPress site; click to add a new post; type in the title, and then I’ll click the little microphone icon on the keyboard, then just start talking into my phone; dictating the copy for the new post.

Man, this has made things so much easier in terms of creating new content consistently. I really dislike being sedentary; I don’t like sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time. Creating content and posting from my phone, man, I love that so much!

The WordPress App

Within just the past few days I have started using the WordPress app on my phone. I had tried it a long time ago, but I think at that time it was more dedicated to wordpress.com sites. That’s not what I needed.

I don’t know when it got updated, but now I can add to each and all of my sites (self hosted, not wordpress.com) to my WordPress app. Now I just open the app select which site I want to work on and I’m already automatically logged into the admin area.

The interface is simple to use and it’s great being able to jump back-and-forth very easily between all of my different sites.

Even For Just One Site

This app is very cool and even if you’re only operating one word press site I think you check it out. I’ll admit that just logging in on my phone through a web browser to the WordPress admin area, that’s really pretty simple and if that works for you, that’s cool.

But even if you do just one run one side, one cool thing about using the app yes, once you open the app you’re already automatically logged into the admin area of your website. Not a huge advantage, but I do find it kind of nice.

Check it out if you want to

If you give it a try let me know what you think.
