Content Marketing – Anywhere, Anytime

November 20, 2012 by T.A. Vieira

If you’re like me, sometimes you just don’t feel like you have the time to produce content. Sometimes, first thing in the morning of a busy day just doesn’t really lend itself to writing a new post or making a quick video. You clock in and start thinking about what you need to get done today, rather than “What shall I write about today?”

The Power of Mobile

Here’s something that might help. If you have a mobile phone these days, you really have a pretty decent work station with you at all times. This can allow you to produce content anytime, anywhere.

If the morning doesn’t really work for you, maybe you’ll have a great idea for a new post when you come out of the grocery store. Or maybe going through the drive-thru of your favorite fine dining establishment inspires words of wisdom regarding customer service and you want to write about it.

No problem. Take out your mobile phone. Write your post in an email and send it to yourself. Then you can edit it later, add a photo and post!

For example, I was babysitting my nephew the other day and it was almost time for his mom to come home. She let me know that she was running late.

At first I was a little bummed because I had an idea for a new post and was anxious to get to the office to put it together. However, I knew if she was running late, that would push my schedule back a bit and I might not have time to put the post together and get it published that morning.

Not a problem.

  • I pulled out my iPhone.
  • Wrote the post in an email.
  • Sent it to myself.
  • Got to the office later.
  • Cut and pasted the email into a new blog post.
  • Edited and added a photo.
  • Published.

I didn’t miss a beat in my days scheduling and was still able to post that morning.

Another Benefit: Writing on Mobile for Reading on Mobile

As time goes by, more and more people are reading more and more content on their mobile devices. This just continues to emphasize the need for brevity.

Most likely, composing a post on a mobile phone will help you keep your message short and to the point.

Don’t Forget Video!

Along with being able to produce written content, you’ve most likely got video recording abilities on your mobile device.

I remember when I first started following marketing giant, Chris Brogan, I’d watch video posts that he would record of himself while walking to his car in the morning. He would share a few quick thoughts on video, and there’s his content for his blog and for YouTube (the #2 biggest search engine).

Okay, No Excuses Now

So get out there and become that content generating machine! Your followers will love you for it. Take advantage of those inspired moments when you’re away from your office or computer.

If you’re actually in the moment, you’re probably going to write a more passionate and effective version of the post anyway.
